Malala Yousafzai is a Pakistani activist for female education and at 17 years old, the youngest ever Nobel Prize recipient in any category. She was awarded the 2014 Peace Prize for her efforts in advocating for girls' rights to education in Pakistan.
On October 9, 2012, at the age of 14, Malala was riding the bus on her way home from school when a Taliban gunman boarded the vehicle and shot her in the head.....Unbelievable! When the shooting occurred she had already been an activist for three years. Such a wise and gentle soul in such a young person. There is definitely something special about this girl.
Thankfully, against all odds, she has recovered and triumphed! Malala will be one to watch as thanks to her efforts, awareness of the struggle for girls' educational rights has reached an all time high.
