February 25, 2015 is Pink Shirt Day a.k.a. Anti Bullying Day....Seriously? Do we really need to mark a special day on the calendar to remind people not to be bullies? How sad is that?
It surprises me that after decades of teaching kids that bullying is unacceptable, there are still bullies amongst us, young, and old enough to know better. We understand that "hurting people hurt people" and sadly, many of us are hurting and feel the need to be acknowledged. But, if bullies would choose to make a conscious decision to treat people the way they themselves would like to be treated, maybe things would change. Who wants to be ridiculed, injured, frightened, robbed, enslaved, belittled, tortured, killed....? Would bullies behave differently if the shoe were on the other foot?
Let's keep our egos in check and radiate kindness, compassion and tolerance every day of the year.
